Gamfa Wen

Case Study

Gamfa Wen

Commanding spectacular views of the Dyfi Estuary, Gamfa Wen is in a truely beautiful location. Wishing to get the most out of this fantastic location, the owner of this property wished to create an open plan effect.

The plan was to convert four existing downstairs rooms into one large living room area, removing sveral walls which were in effect supporting the very structure of the property itself.

Working closely with a Structural Engineer, the Building Control Officer and the owners of the house, we began the work to support the roof structure and remaining walls. The roof was then supported by several complex steel structures, which are hidden from view, giving the main room a light and airy feel.

We also fitted a new fire place using local quarry stone, wood burner, fitted oak floor with under-floor heating. Beautifully crafted oak doors, a new kitchen with granite work tops complete the quality feel of the property.

The final result is a modernisaed property with an open relaxed living area and a large external decking area, ideal for those lazy evenings watching the sunset with a glass of wine!

Take a look at more Dyfi Renovations...

Mr Huw Evans (of Dyfi Renovations) was contracted for building work on our property 11 Nantiesyn, Aberdyfi, Gwynedd, LL35 0NB - between September 2011 and June 2012. All works were carried out to an excellent standard, and at all times he and his staff were courteous and helpful. He remains supportive of any snags and can be relied on to carry out his work in a high quality manner.

We wanted to keep the work local so Dyfi Renovations were one of the companies we contacted and we were immediately impressed by the knowledge and enthusiasm shown by them about the way the renovation work should be tackled. We knew it needed to be someone we could trust and have confidence in because the amount of work required would not be clear until the job was under way.

The attention to detail was superb and such ideas as the addition of the corner stones to the exterior of the building and the detailing of the skirtings and architraves made all the difference. The complete project was made easier by the fact that all the new plumbing and central heating system, new bathrooms, tiling and Kitchen were all taken care of by Huw and his team making it a one stop shop saving us the hassle of sorting out different tradesmen for each section. This was our first major refurbishment project and would have no hesitation in using him again should we venture onto another project.
